Dermal fillers can be used to address areas of volume loss in clients either as a result of ageing to address sagging skin on the face and body and also used to contour areas of the face for various aesthetic looks in order to enhance or harmonise the facial proportions.

They are made from hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a naturally occurring substance found throughout our body and are hydrophilic (attracts water). The HA molecules are cross-linked meaning that they will stay in situ of placement creating volume as well as aiding natural collagen and elastin production whilst also hydrating the skin.

Filler choice is dependent on the area being treated and our practitioners will carefully choose the most appropriate filler for your treatment plan.

PolynucleotidesProfhilo® and other skin boosters are alternatives to dermal fillers used for various indications and do not add volume like dermal fillers.

At LooKosmetics, we only use the product range of Juvéderm® dermal fillers unless stated otherwise for various treatments and all fillers are vegan as they do not contain any animal product.

A full consultation will be carried out to assess suitability as well as any other complementary therapies in order for a complete care plan to be created in order to meet the needs and wants of the client.

CHEEKS

Our practitioners will analyse the face as a whole and take into consideration any areas of volume loss, concerns of the client in order to form a tailored treatment plan.

As we grow more mature, often the front portion of the cheek flattens, making the face appear ‘saggy’ or ‘droopy’.

Quite often ways to address concerns like jowls is to start with treatment of the cheek creating a lifting effect which can not only reduce appearance of jowls but also balance other areas such as the tear trough, marionette/ nasolabial lines.

NASOLABIALS AND MARIONETTES

Nasolabial folds are the lines that extend from the nose to the mouth, with marionette lines extending from the mouth downwards.

These can be reduced with dermal fillers directly to the area as well as through other areas like the cheek as mentioned before.

Most would require between 1-2 ml.

CHIN

Whilst assessing the face full, part of this is the assessment of the clients profile. The chin plays a role in this. Dermal filler can be used to add both length and or width in order to create more harmony to the facial proportions as well as creating either a more ‘conventional’ masculine or feminine appearance.

Most would require 1ml.

JAWLINE

This treatment is suitable for those who wish to define and enhance their natural jawline or those who have lost shape and definition over time with age.

Most require between 1-3 ml if done alone.

Quite often it is usually done with our 3ml contouring packages either on its own or with other areas such as the chin, cheek, midface and if required the nose/tear trough in order to get a rebalanced profile.

Consideration is also taken whether some clients may benefit from Aqualyx Fat Dissolving of the chin or botulinum toxin for platysmal bands before treatment where appropriate in order to start from a baseline natural to the client's existing facial structure before adding any additional volume with dermal fillers.

TEMPLES

Temples are one of the areas which hollow with age due to underlying bone loss resulting the that area becoming sunken.

This area when treated re-volumizes the temple area as well as opening the eye area due to a subtle lift of the eyelids.

Typically people who have hollowed temples require 1-2ml per side.

HANDS

The hands as we age can often be a giveaway of someone’s age.

As well as dermal fillers that can be used to re-volumize and give a more plumper hand and reducing the bony appearance; other treatment such as PolynucleotidesProfhilo and Skin Boosters, Mesotherapy can also aid skin texture and improve skin quality alongside skincare like those offers by Obagi that can assist with any sun damage and hyperpigmentation.

When dermal filler is used, dependent on the severity of volume loss most will see 1-2ml per hand and typically last 12-18 months.

FAQS

1

Do Dermal Filler injections hurt?

Generally these injections tend to be very comfortable, with our fillers also containing a local anaesthetic which will make the area injected feel numb for a little while after your treatment.

2

My lips look swollen immediately after lip filler, will it stay like this?

Very unlikely. During our consultation, client and practitioner would discuss the aesthetic desired. Swelling is normal in lip filler due to the highly vascular area and resolve itself after a few days (abnormal swelling would be discussed in aftercare).

3

Can I go immediately to the gym or sauna after treatment?

This is not advised as the area injected could be slightly swollen and sensitive. We also advise against other treatments like facials, massage and some other treatments within 2 weeks while the filler may still be settling.

4

I have a party the day before or day after the treatment, can I drink?

We advise not to drink alcohol 24 hours prior to and after treatment as this can cause vasodilation and increase the risk of bruising .
